From Business Casual to Corporate Pride
The Internet's newest B2B player specializing in corporate logoed apparel will launch on October 25, 2000, according to co-founder Phil L. Beukema. This new dot.com, Corporate Apparel Unlimited, LLC, will market high quality casual wear and business accessories, each custom-embroidered or screen printed with its client-company's logo.
The new company, Corporate Apparel Unlimited [CAU], has been built by a dad-and-son team, Phil Jr. and Phil Sr. "We think we have a lot going for us," says the junior partner, "given that we have 25-plus years of combined experience in the apparel industry and in marketing, management and new business development."
"Something we believe the Web site will do especially well," states Phil Jr., "is providing innovative ideas about how a company can make best use of logoed apparel. This covers not only the business casual scene but also a myriad of other events and meetings where presentation and use of apparel and accessories help create corporate pride and identity.
CAU sees itself as unique in several ways: Its Web site will be content rich, it will provide an extensive product selection, and will incorporate several creative promotional features. It offers ease-of-ordering procurement that is remarkably streamlined and easy to follow. The company offers all-inclusive pricing that covers absolutely everything, even shipping costs. The 'only extra' is the setup fee on first-time orders for digitizing the company's logo.
According to Beukema, "Corporate pride is the hallmark of our firm." Early on, the company decided to gear its message to the concept of building corporate pride, based on the importance of pride in making a contribution to what a company stands for. "It's all connected," Beukema says, "to a company's image and identity. This is the reason we feel passionate about it."
"We are especially pleased," stated the senior Beukema, "to have secured Hanrick Associates [of Seattle and Boston] as our Web site development and marketing partner. This firm has a team of first-rate professionals, specializing primarily in the business-to-business Web market, and is well on its way to carving out a national reputation."
Not so surprisingly, this new e-commerce startup is co-located - with part of its operations in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and part in northeastern Wisconsin, where each of the two founders reside.
